About

The Rutland Folk Dance Club is a well-established club that has been in existence for fifty years.   We welcome new members and visitors to the area who would like to join us for an evening of sociable dancing at our regular club nights. There is no need to come with a partner – singles are welcomed and encouraged to join in with our members.

Our club nights are held at Manton Village Hall (Priory Rd, Manton, Oakham, Rutland, LE15 8SU) on Friday evenings, normally between 8pm and 10pm, from September to Juneplease check the PROGRAMME page for information. The cost is £3.00 for members or £3.50 for visitors, which includes tea/coffee and a biscuit during the interval; annual membership is £5.00. There is no charge to visitors/new members on their first evening.

The club offers a varied programme of dance ranging from traditional English folk dances to more modern compositions including American “Square” and “Contra” dances. We use both recorded and live music, and several club members are experienced callers.  Also we regularly invite visiting callers and bands from other clubs, particularly for our Special Events. All dances are fully explained, walked through beforehand and called throughout, so are suitable for all abilities;  there is no need to be an experienced dancer.

Dance exercises both your body and your mind, is fun and easy to learn.

We are a friendly and sociable club with a focus on enjoyment, so do come along and join us.
